what it is that you want from me today? what words do you want me to say? should i point to the bottom, should i point to the top? should i point out that this game needs to stop? i can't be the one to do it all every time get it in your head, i'm not here for you i'm getting by ok, kinda fine right now but i don't need to do what i did before i'm not rooted down, at least not right now nothing can last, everything must pass there was never a "how are you?", just a string of demands get it in your head, i'm not here for you i'm not keeping track of what page i'm on what will you say when the words have gone right now i'm here, tomorrow some place else i can't stand still, statues get pulled down i can only change who i am, i can't change anyone else get it in your head, i'm not here for you how are you going to spin it, when you're not winning and there is only you to blame? there is no reason to try and figure it out i'll connect with those who show me their heart i'm in the centre of a passing storm not even your love could keep me warm maybe this is goodbye, but maybe i'll come back get it in your head, i'm not here for you how long will it take for you to understand love is in the eyes but i'm hiding mine the sun is shining and i feel so free i've got a steady pace, no you can't catch me i can't make you listen to any words i have to say get it in your head, i'm not here for you what i believe in is very dear to me it's something special not just a badge to wear i'll talk with anyone to help the day pass are you worth my time, will our connection last? the clock is ticking when's the next train due? get it in your head, i'm not here for you

no ones looking, no ones waiting for any place they need to be no ones searching, no ones finding themselves a new reality living in a portable dream no ones buying, no ones shopping for anything but a lock and key no ones hoping, no ones trying to escape the prison they're in living in a portable dream no ones working, no ones toiling for anything but a little more no ones pushing, no ones shoving unless it's for the spotlight living in a portable dream everybody wants to be something as long as it's not free everybody wants to change the world while they watch t.v. no ones here, no ones there it's all an illusion no ones real, no one feels anything but alone nobody wants to be free, stuck in a portable dream no future in this for me, i'm sailing out to sea

i woke up by the mersey, in the Liverpool air so many people around me but no one knew i was there i wanted the attention of solitude i don't need to be in your crowd, i'm leaving with the tide passing Strawberry Fields, going down Penny Lane made me see beyond it all, i worked it out that day i woke up by the mersey, in the Liverpool air so many people around me but no one knew i was there and nobody can tell me that i'm wasting my time i had a look at me and saw i needed to be free i woke up by the mersey, in the Liverpool air so many people around me but no one knew i was there and the weight of the world i left at Lime Street station i realized, love's my soul motivation so before i went back down to London town i made sure that i wouldn't let myself down

the world puts it's demands on us and they weigh us down and every now and then we feel like we might drown it's easy to get lost inside, lose your dreams, lose your mind but just take your time, put it all to one side i'm stepping out a while, for a self-enforced exile and just for today the world can wait for me the seed waits to grow, the answer waits to be known the broken wait to heal, the dream waits to be real the flower waits for spring, the story waits to live the hour waits for time and the sun waits to shine i'm stepping out a while, for a self-enforced exile and just for today the world can wait for me the heart waits for love, rain waits to fall from above the caterpillar waits to fly, the tear waits to dry the lightning waits to strike, the day waits for the night the lock waits for the key, the sand waits for the sea i'm stepping out a while, for a self-enforced exile and just for today the world can wait for me the unknown waits to be seen, the captive wait to be free the lonely wait for a smile, the jury waits for the trail the corner waits to be turned, the lesson waits to be learned the moment waits to be and the world can wait for me i'm stepping out a while, for a self-enforced exile and just for today the world can wait for me

you are bound to stand here again, rain running down your face you are the kind who never learns from their own mistakes you'll repeat tomorrow just like you did yesterday you'll pray to god but it's with the devil you play you can blame me and everyone else but you know it's you to blame there you go once again there's judgement in your eyes, picking apart every soul you vow to conquer all that's weighing you down what right do i have to judge you for who you are i've rolled the dice, paid the debt and the cost i take the responsibility but you can't take the fact you've lost there you go once again now you're gone, will you be back you've gone right off the track and you'll be crashing soon there's not always someone there, stop looking to pass the buck now it's time to face it, you're just out of luck and your hand might need holding while your souls evolving but you can't get directions away from your mind if you don't make the change soon i'll be out of range there you go once again tomorrow is the perfect day to make the sun shine but come every dawn you get lost in another storm so how about you act right now, before the winds change do any of the words you say mean anything anyway you are an idiot to think that you can pause time there you go once again now you've gone, will you be back you've gone right off the track and you'll be crashing soon when did you start to believe the lies you said so loud was it because it's easier than working things out a better day won't come if you hold on to bad ones your perception of the rain might be what is to blame another mask goes up, another clever little dance there you go once again
